nikon d90 lens/hotshoe interchangable parts compatibility to older cameras?

Question by Chris: nikon d90 lens/hotshoe interchangable parts compatibility to older cameras?
I am getting a d90 and I’m looking for information on lens and hotshoe, etc compatibility with older cameras.

eg, some fuji (which ones?) use the same mount as nikon, and while all nikons use the same mount, which ones will all the autofocus, metering, etc will work correctly. also other things like which models hotshoe flashes can be taken from to work on the d90

Any F-mount lens will work with the D90 to some extent. Look in the D90 manual, pages 228 thru 232. You’ll find what features work with the D90 and specific Nikkor lens types.

As far as flashes, the D90 will handle trigger voltages up to +250V (see page 234). You can find trigger voltage information at http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html .
You are best sticking with modern Nikon flashes so you take advantage of TTL metering. Works like magic! SB600 is a good flash, and SB800 is recommended if you can find it second hand.
